Perched at the end of Main Street with sweeping views of the harbor in Edgartown, Massachusetts, The Atlantic and Boathouse stands as a remarkable example of shingle-style architecture infused with nautical elegance.
Patrick Ahearn Architect transformed this once-neglected 1960s structure into a stunning waterfront destination.
The ground floor welcomes visitors with the vibrant Atlantic Fish & Chop House, featuring a sidewalk café and inviting outdoor dining areas. Upstairs, the exclusive Boathouse club provides a private retreat for members.
Inspired by the late-nineteenth-century Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island, the building’s exterior features distinctive gables, weathered shingles, and elegant awnings.
The interior is adorned with polished wood, white-painted beadboard, and brass and leather accents, creating a sophisticated nautical atmosphere.
Beyond the building’s transformation, the project has revitalized the surrounding area. A new brick walkway, lush landscaping, and comfortable outdoor seating invite visitors to linger and enjoy the breathtaking harbor views.
This revitalization has played a significant role in the restoration of Edgartown Village on Martha’s Vineyard, enhancing its charm and allure.
