Dutch design firm Centric Design Group has created a contemporary backyard garden with a stunning swimming pool. This luxury private oasis of a coastal villa in the Netherlands features a glass swimming pool with a contemporary fountain, a jacuzzi, an outdoor lounge and a sauna room.
Starbucks Coffee Shop in Amsterdam is a concept store that promotes the idea of local community gathering spaces. It’s call “The Bank” because it’s located in a 4,500 sq. ft. subterranean space in the vault of a historic bank on the popular Rembrandtplein. The design also treats the coffee shop as a coffee theater.
Designed by architect Piet Blom, these unusual looking residential Cube Houses located on Overblaak Street in Rotterdam in The Netherlands are based on the concept of “living as an urban roof”. The houses are tilted 45 degrees in a hexagon-shaped pylon. There are 38 small cubes with two super-cubes all connected together. One owner decided to open a “show cube” due to the curiosity of passers-by making this something of a tourist attraction. A Dutch hostel chain Stayokay converted the larger cubes into a hostel.
Hotel Amsterdam Zaandam in the suburb of Amsterdam, the Netherlands is a whimsical real life gingerbread house. The concrete building with a quirky façade of irregularly stacked Dutch wooden houses is the work of WAM architecten. The traditional houses in bright green and blue speaks the architectural language of the region. This 160-room hotel has individually designed guest rooms which refer to typical products from the Zaan region.
Over the years, many churches in the Netherlands have been left abandoned. It is becoming increasingly popular to convert old churches into residences to prevent them from demolition. The St. Jaobus Church in Utrecht is transformed into a beautiful modern home by Zecc Architecten. No window frames are added to the façade, and the original exterior architecture is preserved. The interior of the church house is very white and bright. Light, space and functionality have been carefully considered.
Located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Fabbrica Restaurant is an Italinan restaurant with the ambience of a romantic canteen of a special factory. Long tables and benches in Italian ice-cream shop style colours such as pink and pistachio green create a fun atmosphere. A large wall of wood with an oven covered with Italian mosaic add another creative element to the interior decoration.
The interior design of the lounge at the Groninger Museum in Groningen, Netherlands is an expressive piece of art in itself. Created by Studio Job, the design pushes the envelop which is quite fitting for this museum of modern and contemporary art.
