Barbie Malibu Dream House is a real life 3,500 square-foot house overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu, California. The interior design by Jonathan Adler, who was commissioned by toy maker Mattel to decorate the house for Barbie’s 50th birthday, is glamorous, chic and colorful.
Nakahouse located in the Hollywood Hills, California, just below the Hollywood sign, is a minimalist remodeled home by XTEN Architecture. The abstract house originally built in the 1960’s is a series of interconnected terraced spaces where the exterior is opened up to the hillside surroundings. The kitchen and dinning area is linked with the living room by a newly designed large terrace. The white interiors blend the rooms together creating an abstract atmosphere.
Ludwig penthouse apartment in San Francisco, California is located in a concrete high-rise on Aquatic Park. The design by Craig Steely takes advantage of the views. Materials used are clear and etched 1/2″ glass, slabs of Black walnut, hand made mosaic tile walls, and gun blued steel.
The Manor, located at 594 S. Mapleton Drive in the Holmby Hills neighbourhood in Los Angeles, California is a stunning 56,500 square feet mansion on a 4.6 acre lot. Also known as Spelling Manor, it was the home of television producer Aaron Spelling. Designed by architects James Langenheim & Associates, the French Chateau style mansion has 14 bedrooms, 27 bathrooms, a billiards room, bowling alley, arcade room, swimming pool, tennis courts, and servants quarters. Built in 1988, this grand residence is one of the most expensive private homes in the world. It was sold to heiress Petra Ecclestone in 2011 for US$85 million.

This 1930s Spanish style bungalow has antique brickwork that leads from the driveway to the front door. The interior space has a rich, dark palette with wide-plank oak wood flooring throughout. Skywave House located in Venice, California is an eco-friendly and artistic contemporary home designed by Anthony Coscia of Coscia Day Architecture and Design. This unique house’s open scheme and its landscaping maximize the potential of this landlocked site. The floating living room and bedroom suite hover over transparent 12 foot high glass walls. The interior space provides uninterrupted views of the landscape. Sliding doors and moveable interior partitions can open to reveal even private areas to the rest of the house and nature beyond.
Situated on Mt. Helix in La Mesa, California, this modern house has been completely restored inside and out. The original house was designed by architect John Mock and built in the 1960’s. The renovation project included a newly added swimming pool, restored kitchen cabinets and new flooring. Large widows allow beautiful views to the outdoors and natural light to filter through the interiors.
