Designer Ralph Lauren and his wife live on a 250-acre estate in Bedford, New York that is an English-inspired American home. The 17,000 sq. ft. residence is a Norman-style stone house originally built in 1919.
The stately entrance hall opens to a mahogany-paneled library on one side, and on the other a dining room with deep-green velvet walls.
A classic English drawing room on the first floor is dramatic like most Ralph Lauren’s home decor. The atmosphere in most rooms are intense. Tartan is used generously, including tartan pillows, throws and runners.
The interior decor is formal but also both playful and eclectic in a way that is uniquely Ralph Lauren.
Outdoor living includes a terrace for alfresco dining and a poolhouse that is surrounded by towering pines. The interior of the poolside escape features pine ceiling beams and French limestone mantel.
