Piet Boon Studio was commissioned by Michelin-star chef Sergio Herman and chef Nick Bril to convert the chapel of a former military hospital in Antwerp, Belgium into a contemporary restaurant. Their vision was to create a “fine dining meets rock ’n roll” restaurant with international allure.
The glass kitchen occupies the original altar like a modern shrine which allows diners to witness the chefs in action.
At the center of The Jane restaurant is a 800 kilograms-weighing contemporary chandelier of 12 by 9 meters with over 150 lights, designed by the Beirut-based design studio .PSLAB.
Contemporary stained-glass windows consist of unique panels that tell stories of good and evil, rich and poor, life and death as well as good food and religion. The quirky panels portray a contemporary version of the original church stained-glass windows.
Natural stone, leather and oak wood are used for the interior to create a scenic ambience by seamlessly combining artistry and engineering.
