This cozy home in a leafy old neighborhood in Nashville, Tennessee was newly built to blend seamlessly in with the existing houses around it.
Farris Concepts in Architecture designed a new house that looks like it’s been on this street forever. Interior designer Rachel Halvorson Designs created a look that played to the architecture while bringing a fresh modern look to the living spaces.
The vernacular style of the exterior with stone foundation, wood siding, and cedar-shake roof reinforced the cottage character.
The main sunny kitchen has a large steel-framed window, no upper cabinets, and is clutter-free. Just off the main kitchen sits a smaller second kitchen for hiding dirty dishes and other items behind salvaged sliding doors.
A porch with fans, heaters mounted in the ceiling, and a cozy stone fireplace allows for indoor-outdoor living year-round.
