Christopher Newport Hall is the architectural centerpiece of Christopher Newport University’s campus in Newport News, Virginia.
Located at the eastern end of the Great Lawn, this iconic building designed by Glavé & Holmes Architecture serves as a gateway to the university’s mission of fostering student achievement.
The Hall’s grand sweeping staircase features Corinthian columns and an arched cast-stone base, creating a podium that offers gathering spaces with a Great Lawn vista. A domed roof capped with a copper cupola provides a distinctive silhouette.
A three-tiered cast-iron fountain enhances the outdoor courtyard, offering a serene space for students to reflect.
Inside, visitors are greeted with a dramatic view of the sunlit dome through a series of circular floor openings.
