Situated on a nine-acre site in Ridgefield, Connecticut, this English country style home is more than a luxury residence. The main feature is a 3,600-square-foot Library of Human Imagination on three maze-like levels.
Designed by Mark P. Finlay Architects for entrepreneur Jay Walker, the grand private library consists of labyrinthine platforms that seem to float in space. They are amplified by the decorative etched-glass paneled bridges connecting the platforms, showing various scenes from the history of human invention.
The massive library is part theater and part engagement space. 38,000 books and significant historical artifacts fill the shelves.
As one walks into the room, LED-lit glass panels lining various walkways automatically wakes up with glowing theatrical lighting and music.
